8. HEATHER MAC & MARK HARRIS, BITTERSWEET (5’15”) Heather McDermot, (Mac Music), Desk Mix, NR, Amphitheatre, 1997, DAT. From Cape Town this was Heather Mac’s first solo Splashy having played there before & since, with her band. Together with Tim Parr she took ELIMENTAL to Europe for a few years (based in Ireland) & has since become a songwriter in her own right. Mark Harris, the attorney turned guitarist singer songwriter, is a Splashy veteran from the very first festival. Another folk ‘n jazz crossover act who is well known in KwaZulu-Natal for his wonderful story songs and outrageous jazz chords. Their performance at the amphitheatre in ‘95 was a particulartly memorable ocassion. |
