Three of South Africa’s most accomplished musicians will share their knowledge and skills during a series of workshops at Splashy Fen on Saturday 11 April.
Syd Kitchen
Poet/guitarist/singer/song fighter, Syd Kitchen has been teaching music in his beloved Durban since 1977. He has a BA (Hons) degree in Musicology (cum laude) and has taught literally thousands of musicians (some who have gone on to great things) the ability to think about their craft as a source of change in their lives.
Syd’s workshop will focus on the art of writing a song. This will include the discovery of the idea behind the song, the harmonic framework of the idea, the relationship between the harmony and the melody of the song, and the creation of the lyrical content that propels the idea to fruition.
